PCC to offer summer camps for 6th graders to adults
If you’re looking for something fun and educational
for your middle or high school students to do this summer, check out Piedmont
Community College’s summer camp offerings, including one for adults! All camps
will be held during the month of June, and most are offered at no charge to participants.
Applications are available at public school
counselors’ offices and at Piedmont Community College at the Student
Information Desk (Building E), the Administration Building lobby (Building A),
the Learning Resources Center (Building H), and Building L, Room 113 on the
Person County Campus. On the Caswell County Campus, applications are available
at the Receptionist’s Desk in the Building K lobby and in the Learning
Resources Center. Persons listed as camp contacts also can provide
applications.
Person County Camps include the following:
Ecology
and Biotechnology: Science Exploration Camp: June 11-14; for rising 6th-8th
graders; meets 1-3:30 p.m. Learn about DNA, making cheese, isolating DNA
transformation, fingerprinting, cleaning oil spills, and more. Contact Randy

Creative
Writing Camp:
June 18-21; for rising 8th-12th graders; meets 9 a.m.-12
p.m. Learn and apply the basics of creative wiring. A select group of students
will be chosen for this special workshop. T. Oakley will be the instructor.

Exploring
Health Sciences Camp:
June 18-21; for rising 8th-12 graders; meets 9 a.m.-12 p.m. Explore
health sciences careers such as nursing, nursing assistant, medical assisting,
and phlebotomy through demonstrations, hands-on experiences, role playing, and
visits to area health care facilities. Lisa Elliott will be the instructor.

Animation Experience with Maya: June 25-28; for high school students; meets
1-5 p.m. Find out if game creation or animation could be the career for you
while trying out the software used to make films such as Cars, Spiderman, and

will immerse themselves in hands-on activities, including operating a camera,
sound and lighting equipment, and editing the final projects. Get a lot of

Really Make a Computer Game?: June 25-28; for high school students; meets 1-5 p.m. Use Gamemaker software to
create a simple game. Come try it out and learn how to get started using this
