What’s the GED® test like?
The GED® test has been updated to make sure it measures what graduating high school seniors know and what colleges and employers will expect of you. The test consists of four parts:
- Science (95 minutes)
- Social Studies (75 minutes)
- Reasoning Through Language Arts (150 minutes including a 10-minute break)
- Mathematical Reasoning (120 minutes)
- Offered on computer (paper available for special accommodations only)
- English and Spanish versions available
What’s the HiSET® test like?
The HiSET® test has been updated to make sure it measures what graduating high school seniors know and what colleges and employers will expect of you. The test consists of five parts:
- Science (80 minutes)
- Social Studies (70 minutes)
- Language Arts Reading (65 minutes)
- Mathematical Reasoning (90 minutes)
- Language Arts Writing (120 minutes)
- Offered on paper (it is also offered on computer but PCC doesn’t offer that version)
- English and Spanish versions available
How do I register to test?
Registration is simple, sign up for the GED® test at www.ged.com or the HiSET® test at www.psiexams.com. You will get information about local testing policies, how to request modified testing conditions (accommodations), and you’ll be able to schedule your test there. Your College & Career Readiness instructor can assist you with this process. To register for testing, you will need a credit, debit or pre-paid credit card.
Testing Schedule:
GED® test: Go to www.ged.com. Log in and click on “Schedule Test” on the top. Once you complete the scheduling questions you’ll be directed to choose your language, subject, and the day and time that works best for you to test. You can also schedule one test at a time to make sure you feel prepared every time.
HiSET® test: Go to www.psiexams.com. Log in and click on “My HiSET® account” in the upper right corner. Once you complete the scheduling questions you’ll be directed to choose your language, subject, and the day and time that works best for you to test. You can also schedule one test subject at a time to make sure you feel prepared every time.
