HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY (HSE)

Earn your high school diploma—tuition-free and on your schedule!

Improve your reading, writing, and math skills.

Gain skills for college, career, or to help with your child’s education.

Flexible in-person and hybrid online classes.


ADULT HIGH SCHOOL

Complete the courses you didn’t finish in high school to obtain the 22 credits required by the North Carolina Future Ready Core standards. Courses are computer-based so that you can take them one at a time at your own pace, and tuition for the courses is waived.


ADULT BASIC EDUCATION (ABE) ADULT SECONDARY EDUCATION (ASE)

FREE instruction in basic reading, writing, and math to prepare you for high school-level work.

High school equivalency test prep for HiSET® and GED® tests.

Provides Career Ready™ access to prepare for Work Keys® testing.


BASIC SKILLS PLUS (BSP)

Allows students enrolled in high school equivalency instruction to also enroll at the same time in career pathway courses (college courses, employability skills training, specific occupational training). College courses are free to BS+ students.


ENROLLMENT FOR MINORS (16-17 YRS OLD) TO ATTAIN HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY

Students under 18 must submit a College & Career Readiness Referral form completed by their previous school and signed by the high school superintendent. The student must have been out of school for less than six (6) months.

Orientation is required. A parent or legal guardian must attend the first hour and complete a notarized Guardian Release form. PCC provides free notary services.

Valid, government-issued photo ID and a Social Security number are required.


ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE (ESL)

Instruction is provided in traditional and online/hybrid formats.  Online access is available 24 hours per day, seven (7) days per week. You must have the following to participate.

Social security number or tax identification number

A valid government-issued picture ID or driver’s license

Minors, ages 16-17, will need a release from their local public school and a guardian release form.
