Social and Human Services – General Concentration

The General Concentration program prepares students for entry-level positions in institutions and agencies which provide social, community, and educational services. Along with core courses, students take courses which prepare them for specialization in specific human service areas. Emphasis in core courses is placed on development of relevant knowledge, skills, and attitudes in human services.

Social and Human Services – Addictions and Recovery

The Addictions and Recovery curriculum equips students to support individuals in achieving sobriety and healing, fostering meaningful change in their communities. The program combines foundational knowledge in addiction, mental health, and recovery techniques with supervised fieldwork, allowing students to gain practical, real-world experience.

Social and Human Services – Child Advocacy

The Child Advocate Certificate prepares students to make a meaningful impact in the lives of children by equipping them to recognize, respond to, and prevent child maltreatment. This program is designed for professionals and community members working with children who want to deepen their knowledge and skills in child welfare.

Social and Human Services – Mental Health

The Mental Health concentration prepares students for job opportunities in the mental health field. The curriculum enables students to understand culturally and emotionally handicapped, developmentally disabled, or addicted clients through a variety of models and diagnoses.

Fieldwork experience will provide opportunities for application of knowledge and skills learned in the classroom.

Students can also apply to take the Human Services Board Certified Practitioner Exam upon graduation with an Associate’s Degree in Social & Human Services, which will allow them to become certified as Human Services Board Practitioners (HS-BCP).
