The Board of Trustees of Piedmont Community College (PCC) has selected Dr. Kevin Lee as the College’s sixth president after a comprehensive national search. Their decision was affirmed this morning by the State Board of Community Colleges.

Lee brings nearly 25 years of experience in North Carolina’s Community College System, where he has consistently demonstrated a commitment to innovation, student success and workforce development.

Since 2022, Lee has served as Vice President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at Brunswick Community College (BCC). In this role, he has overseen academic programs, human resources, accreditation, institutional effectiveness and more. Under his leadership, the College has experienced growth in enrollment and continued excellence in student outcomes.

“We are confident in the skills, knowledge and abilities of Dr. Lee to lead the College into the future and serve the citizens of Caswell and Person counties,” Antonio Foster, PCC Board of Trustees Chair said. “Please join me in welcoming Dr. Lee to the College and the community. We also wish to thank all of those who participated in this crucial appointment; your input was of great value to the decision-making process and valued by the Board.”

Lee’s career in education began at Guilford Technical Community College, where he served as an instructor and later as department chair for Computer Technologies. He also led STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) and trades programs at BCC prior to assuming his current executive role. Known for cultivating strong industry and community partnerships, he has helped secure more than $2.5 million in grant funding over the past three years.

Lee holds associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Information Technology, and a doctorate in Educational Leadership. A first-generation college graduate and native North Carolinian, Dr. Lee is also a graduate of several national leadership programs, including the American Association of Community Colleges Future Presidents Institute and the NC Community College Presidents Association Aspiring Presidents Institute.

“I am deeply honored and elated to accept the role of president at Piedmont Community College,” Lee said. “Since 1970, PCC has upheld a proud legacy of excellence and service, expanding opportunities through accessible, affordable education. I am thrilled to lead the College into its next chapter and to advance our mission of transforming lives, strengthening our community and inspiring individuals to achieve excellence.”

“I am excited to work alongside our dedicated faculty, staff and community partners to build on this strong foundation by removing barriers and expanding life-changing opportunities for our students. Together, we will forge new partnerships and strengthen existing ones with local industries and the many communities within Caswell and Person counties – ensuring both a highly skilled workforce and meaningful opportunities for personal enrichment. As PCC continues to grow, it will remain a vital engine of opportunity, innovation and economic progress for our region.”

Lee’s tenure as PCC’s president will begin August 4, 2025.
