⚠️ Preliminary Steps (Important)
- Backup your data: All personal files will be erased if you choose “Remove everything.” Back up to an external drive or cloud storage before proceeding.
- Connect to power: Keep the laptop plugged in to avoid interruptions.
- Remove peripherals: Unplug USB drives, printers, and other accessories.
Method 1: Factory Reset via Windows (if it boots normally)
- Open Start → Settings.
- Navigate to System → Recovery (or Windows 10: Update & Security → Recovery).
- Under Reset this PC, click Get started.
- Choose “Remove everything” for a full factory reset.
- Select either Cloud download or Local reinstall.
- Confirm the choices; then click Reset to initiate.
- Cloud download gets the latest Windows image, ideal for corrupted systems.
- Local reinstall uses existing system files and works offline.
Method 2: HP Recovery Partition (when Windows won’t load)
- Fully shut down the laptop.
- Turn it on and press F11 repeatedly as soon as it starts.
- The HP Recovery Manager (or Windows Recovery) should load.
- Select Troubleshoot → Reset this PC (or System Recovery).
- Choose “Remove everything” and follow the on‑screen prompts to complete the process.
