Piedmont Community College’s (PCC) Board of Trustees held its regular quarterly meeting on May 6 on the Caswell County Campus, highlighting updates and welcoming local leaders as special guests.
Caswell County Manager Scott Whitaker and Commissioners Brian Totten and Tony Smith were in attendance, each briefly introducing themselves and expressing their continued support for the College and its mission. Their presence underscored the strong partnership between the College and Caswell County leadership.
Board Chair Antonio Foster commented, “It’s encouraging to have the support of our county leaders as we look toward to the future. Their commitment to education and economic development reinforces the vital role PCC plays in strengthening our community.”
Representatives from Executive Leadership Associates (ELA), the presidential search firm managing the College’s search for a president, provided an update on the current search. The current position posting closes at 12 a.m. on May 12. The Executive Committee of the Board will hold a special-called meeting on May 22 with ELA to narrow the candidates. Interviews and public forums are expected to be held in June with a projected start date of August 1 for the president.
As part of the meeting, the Board voted to rename the College’s facility located at 225 Crown Boulevard in Timberlake to PCC South Campus. The building will continue to house the Center for Health, Advanced Technology and Trades (CHATT), but the new campus name allows for broader use of the space and greater flexibility in offering future programs beyond health, advanced technology or trades.
In a celebration of student success, it was also noted that PCC’s Class of 2025 has the largest number of graduates participating in commencement since the ceremony was first held at the Caswell Civic Center in 2023. A total of 182 graduates will participate in the commencement ceremony on May 16 at 6 p.m.
The Board remains committed to supporting student success, strengthening community ties, and expanding opportunities across all campus locations during this time of growth and transition.
