The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians by fully covering tuition and fees at community colleges such as Piedmont Community College (PCC).
The Next NC Scholarship is designed to benefit households making $80,000 annually or less pursue higher education. Qualifying students attending PCC will receive at least $3,000 which covers tuition and fees 100 percent.
“The Next NC scholarship initiative is making college affordable by reducing financial barriers for families and individuals in our community,” Dr. Shelly Stone-Moye, PCC Vice President, Student Development said. “Piedmont Community College students are eligible for consideration simply by completing the FAFSA. Those who meet the criteria can attend college at little or no cost.”
Applying for the Next NC Scholarship is simple. Students only need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). If eligible to receive the scholarship, students will automatically receive it with no additional forms to fill out. The Next NC Scholarship priority filing date is August 15 for PCC.
“The Next NC Scholarship is a wonderful opportunity to assist students pursue their educational and career goals,” Rachel Johnson, PCC Director, Financial Aid and Veterans Affairs said. “Making education more affordable and accessible with the Next NC Scholarship will allow students to focus more on their education.”
To receive the Next NC Scholarship, you must be:
- A North Carolina resident who is eligible for in-state tuition.
- A high school or high school equivalency graduate.
- From a household with an annual Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $80,000 or less.
- Enrolled in an eligible undergraduate curriculum program for the 2024-2025 academic year.
- Meeting the Satisfactory Academic Progress Standards of the school you plan to attend.
- A student who has completed the 2024-2025 FAFSA, with a resulting Student Aid Index (SAI) at or below 7,500 (once complete, PCC’s Financial Aid office will determine your eligibility).
- Taking at least six credit hours per semester (part-time students will receive a partial award).
