Piedmont Community College (PCC) has received a $10,000 donation from the Sportsman’s Heritage Foundation to support the College’s gunsmithing program.

Members of the Sportsman Heritage Foundation, including Adam Wolfe, HR Carver and Kyle Shotwell, presented the donation to PCC leadership as well as gunsmithing instructors and students. The foundation’s support reflects its commitment to the program and its impact on the community, as well as its shared connection to promoting responsible participation in the outdoors.

Wolfe, who also serves as a member of the PCC Board of Trustees, encouraged the College to use the funds where they are needed most within the program, whether for equipment, scholarships or other student needs.

“PCC’s gunsmithing program has made a lasting impact on this community by providing students with the hand-on skills and training they need to pursue their goals,” Wolfe said. “The Sportsman’s Heritage Foundation is proud to support a program that shares our commitment to education and creating opportunities for the next generation. We hope this donation will help the program continue to grow and provide students with the resources they need to be successful in gunsmithing.”

The partnership between PCC and the Sportsman’s Heritage Foundation will extend beyond the donation. The foundation plans to collaborate with the gunsmithing program on a special fundraiser as its annual banquet in January 2027, where a firearm made by PCC gunsmithing students will be auctioned. The money raised from auctioning the firearm will go back into the gunsmithing program.

“We are grateful to the Sportsman’s Heritage Foundation for investing in our students and in a program that has such a strong connection to our community,” Dr. Kevin Lee, PCC president, said. “What makes this support especially meaningful to me is that the Foundation is headquartered right here in Roxboro. These are local members making local donations that will have a direct impact on local students and our community—and that means the world to me. Their generosity will help our gunsmithing students access the equipment, scholarships, and resources they need to be successful. We look forward to building on this partnership and creating even more opportunities for our students in the future.”
