Golfers gathered to make a difference at the 35th annual Piedmont Community College (PCC) Foundation Golf Classic on November 17 at Treyburn Country Club raising $46,990 in revenue in support of student scholarships and programs.

The tournament consisted of 26 teams and was played in a captain’s choice format. Enbridge Gas North Carolina was the Pacer Sponsor for the tournament. Their sponsorship not only supported the tournament, but also provides a $1,000 scholarship to a student for the spring 2026 semester.

The team sponsored by Jimmy Lewis & Sons Grading & Septic secured first-place, with the Sunrock team earning second place. The third-place finish went to the team sponsored by FinishLine Pest Control.

During the reception, Leah Owen, widow of former PCC president Dr. H James (Jim) Owen, was recognized for her family’s continued support of PCC and the PCC Foundation Golf Classic.

“The Piedmont Community College Golf Classic started in 1990, and the Jim and Leah Owen family have supported the golf tournament for the entire 35 years,” Phillip Allen, Chairman of the Foundation Golf Classic Committee and PCC Board of Trustees member, said. “From 1990 to 2025, not only did they give back to the College with all their heart, soul and resources, but they gave back to the College, Foundation, community and the Golf Classic. We honor the family of Jim and Leah Owen as one of the most consistent and passionate supporters of our Golf Classic over the past 35 years.”

“It’s clear to me that the beauty of the PCC Foundation Golf Classic lies not only in the immaculate grounds of Treyburn Country Club, but in the lasting friendships and connections forged on the course,” Jane Harris, PCC Foundation Executive Director, said. “Year after year, participants come together—united by a shared purpose and a commitment to making a difference.  And we are so grateful to everyone that volunteered to make this event a success.”

The 36th annual golf classic has been scheduled for September 15, 2026. For more information on ways to support the PCC Foundation, visit piedmontcc.edu/foundation.
