As part of its final act of community support before dissolving, the Person Memorial Foundation has donated $132,798.43 along with seven acres of land to the Piedmont Community College (PCC) Foundation, ensuring a lasting impact through the development of the Center for Health, Advanced Technology and Trades (CHATT).

Through their final donation, the Person Memorial Foundation vowed that remaining assets would go towards healthcare, education and economic development in Person County. By supporting CHATT, members were confident their three criteria would be fulfilled. In a ceremony held on January 29 at CHATT, the Person Memorial Foundation presented the donation to the PCC Foundation.

“The Person Memorial Foundation is pleased and proud to present contributions to the Piedmont Community College Foundation, both monetarily and in terms of real estate which will benefit the college as well in support of the CHATT facility and the programs that are to be conducted there,” Alan Hicks, Person Memorial Foundation President said. “The Foundation believes that this is completely consistent with its mission to enhance and support educational opportunities through Person County and the college and the college’s mission to do likewise.”

The donated land on the north side of Memorial Drive in Roxboro will be used by the college for wayfinding signage. PCC is often referred to as a hidden gem as it’s not easy to find with current signage.

“We are incredibly grateful to the Person Memorial Foundation for this generous gift and for their legacy of support in our community,” Dr. Pamela G. Senegal, PCC President said. “This donation will have a lasting impact, helping us prepare students for high-demand careers and strengthening the future of our region.”
