Electrical Systems Level I will introduce concepts and computations related to DC/AC electricity with a particular emphasis on DC/AC circuits, components, and the operation of test equipment.
Course Schedule/Program Details
Industrial Electrical Systems Level I
This course provides a systematic introduction to the principles and applications of DC and AC electrical circuits, emphasizing the analysis of real-world systems. Students explore fundamental electrical quantities, Ohm’s Law, energy and power relationships, and the behavior of series, parallel, and series-parallel networks. The course also examines magnetism and electromagnetism as a foundation for understanding inductive components. Building on these DC concepts, students learn the characteristics of AC waveforms, phasors, and RMS values, as well as the operation of capacitors, inductors, and their roles in RC, RL, and RLC circuits. Topics such as resonance, frequency response, transient behavior, and transformer operation equip learners with essential skills for analyzing and troubleshooting modern electrical systems in engineering, technology, and industrial environments.
Students will be given the opportunity to earn the gold tier C-201 Electrical Systems I credential through the Smart Automaton Certification Alliance (SACA).
